The "Förderkreis für Internationales Wettbewerbsrecht", member of the LIDC, is based with the Centre for Protection against Unfair Competition (Abbr. Wettbewerbszentrale) and aims at sharing knowledge and views on international competition law. The Wettbewerbszentrale itself is the largest and most influential German and cross-border self-regulatory institution for the enforcementof the Act against Unfair Competition, UWG (Gesetz gegen den unlauteren Wettbewerb). Its activities are based on its authority to take legal action as an association under § 8 (3) No. 2of the UWG and § 33 (2) of the GWB (Law against Restraints on Competition, Gesetz gegen Wettbewerbsbeschränkungen). The Wettbewerbszentrale’s task is to promote fair competition through legal research, information services, and law enforcement.
